Read the excellent guest commentary piece in today's Dominion Post (Morgantown, WV) written by Bill Howley. He very succinctly explains how building new transmission lines does not make our grid more reliable. Upgrading our current infrastructure at much less cost and with much less sacrifice on behalf of private landowners is feasible, on the table right now, and makes sense from all angles.
A must read!

Very good, concise article Bill. I don't mean to make light of this in ANY way, however, to many right minded people this is stating the obvious. Thank you Bill for showing the support and reasoning that BIGGER ISN'T NECCESSARILY BETTER. Those of us involved in fighting this STOOOOPID project have been saying all along, "show me something better and not just bigger and I will give it fair consideration." Projects like PATH are nothing more than the same old antiquated technology, just more of it. GO AWAY PATH AND QUIT WASTING MY TIME AND MONEY UNTIL YOU CAN SHOW ME SOMETHING BETTER!

An additional note to Bill's to-the-point commentary: The peak demand problem is already being solved, and FERC, showing its transformational colors, has addressed it by providing the same incentives PATH is salivating over, to battery storage technology. FERC believes large scale commercial battery storage - which incidentally coincides with the battery retool of the US auto industry - is the way to go. http://www.dwt.com/LearningCenter/Advisories?find=187204 . There were naysayers when FERC did this last year, but guess what? Run a FERC website search with the term "battery" and you will see that its happening already with several huge projects in the west and many more on deck. FERC is also giving incentive treatment to other advanced technologies that are truly "new." (BTW, there are cases on the books that say the technology PATH is using is nothing new and does not qualify for special rate treament available to innovators) Hey, it's FERC's idea to push all this, could it be that they are slowly puching holes in the bottom of PATH's boat?
