PJM directs power companies to suspend efforts on PATH project!

2/28/2011

I got a call from an AP reporter in Charleston just a little while ago.  Just like last time, I get my good news from a reporter....

Read it here.  This morning PJM "direct[ed] transmission owners to suspend efforts on the Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline project."

Looks like it's over for the time being, folks!  However they still want to linger in the shadows.

Although it's not even noon, Patience and I are sitting here drinking our remaining bottles of Raging Bitch beer, saved for just this occasion.

More (snark) later.......

It was quite tasty... but followed by loads of coffee... because that just started the press parade. It was a nice 30 minute buzz... now back to work!

And yes.........

HAW-HAW -- as said by Nelson Muntz.

Someone needs to pinch me. Maybe we can thank the middle eastern countries for this since their turmoil in their countries have sent gas prices soaring and while they rise, there is no way the economy is going to recover. I don't drink, but boy is this tempting. What a high I've been on, Bon Jovi concert last night, now this news today.

Hate to brag (no I don't) but we could have won this within a few months anyway. (And they knew it) We didn't even pull out the big guns yet! So this is just a flare warning: We will not quit until PATH or any possible mutation is permanently buried. I like the idea of a community garden on the 'kemptown farm' with an experimental hybrid wind/solar power source that provides the neighborhood with suplemental power and a station for plug-in vehicles. FirstEnergy is free to show its community stewardship by donating the land. C'mon, they must need a tax write-off.

All my neighbors who gave an option to PATH, uh oh, looks like they are stuck up here on the mountain. None of them would listen to me, looks like I get the last laugh now.

You'll be laughing really hard come April 15 when they have a huge tax bill due and no money left. And even harder when PATH sells that assignable option to someone else when they are forced into abandonment. :-)

I actually had someone who sold out to PATH ask me yeserday evening, "well, what are they gonna do about my (her) house?" All I could say was, "it aint YOU'RE house anymore, enjoy your big check." I wished her luck in her endevore and went on my way. These are the folks I truly feel sorry for. tax time is comin and their all gonna get the shaft. I wish these folks would have listened and some faith early in this battle.

Keryn and Patience, we owe so much to you two for getting us organized, going around the county, getting people involved. I know everyone involved deserves a pat on the back for hanging in there and being resilient, but if you two hadn't taken the time to educate people and get the ball rolling, this wouldn't have happened. I will always be grateful for what you two did as well as all the others who have given so much of their time and talents.

    About the Author

Keryn Newman blogs here at StopPATH WV about energy issues, transmission policy, misguided regulation, our greedy energy companies and their corporate spin.
In 2008, AEP & Allegheny Energy's PATH joint venture used their transmission line routing etch-a-sketch to draw a 765kV line across the street from her house. Oooops! And the rest is history.

    About
    StopPATH Blog

StopPATH Blog began as a forum for information and opinion about the PATH transmission project.  The PATH project was abandoned in 2012, however, this blog was not.

StopPATH Blog continues to bring you energy policy news and opinion from a consumer's point of view.  If it's sometimes snarky and oftentimes irreverent, just remember that the truth isn't pretty.  People come here because they want the truth, instead of the usual dreadful lies this industry continues to tell itself.  If you keep reading, I'll keep writing.
