PATH's Last Chance

1/7/2011

PATH was reluctantly granted their motion to toll the case for the fourth time in West Virginia today.  After PATH agreed to a whole bunch of conditions for submitting new evidence in the case when they fell on their sword yesterday, the Commission made clear that this is PATH's LAST CHANCE.

Does anyone think they won't screw up and blow it?  I have absolutely no doubt that they will continue their pattern of screw-ups and end up requesting more delays, so no big deal.  Bring it on, fellas!

While it would have been nice to have a little vacation while they re-grouped for their next assault if the case had been dismissed, that didn't happen.

No worries -- us citizens are used to picking ourselves up and dusting ourselves off and resolving to continue the fight with renewed vigor.  If they ever thought they were going to "wear us down", I hope they've tossed that into their ever-growing "mistakes" pile a long time ago.

The Power Line has a great message to the PSC that I'm sure we all echo.   Also be sure to read Bill's take on the Order.  It's been a long day of writing and I'm just out of words at this point.

Do not be angry or discouraged.

Thanks for the Churchill quote. It's exactly what we need right now.

It seemed preferable to having everyone join hands and sing "Kumbayah" ;-)

Well, well, well ... PATH gets yet another chance to get back in the kitchen, stir the pot, and cook the books again. The only problem ... they have nobody that can cook a decent book properly. It's not that hard guys, here's the recipe:

Millions of parts of ratepayer money (the hard earned kind)
A handfull a PATHetic lawyers
A big fat wad of LIES
A "bucket" full of bull$#!+
Many handfuls of deciet

Roll all this together and serve with a Snidley Whiplash smile to your customers, Pi$$ on there shoes and tell them it's raining and go on screwing them as usual.

Well as all can see PATH does not and will never have their "game" together. This is the forth time they have had to re-cook in West Virginia and I doubt the last. The PSC has graciously given this problem child ONE LAST CHANCE to get it right but I bet they come begging again next fall. Don't worry though we will still be here and ready to stand up for what's right. As I've said before we aren't simply going to our evil little jobs each day as the PATHcos are doing. We are fighting for what is right for all the ratepayers. With this newly granted delay we now have more time to dig deeper. There has been SOOOO many dirty little secrets uncovered thus far, I wonder what will show up next?

I'm so mad and disappointed with the PSC right now. They should not be called Public Service Commission because they do not do what the public wants and seem to not watch out for the public. Yesterday was a double dose of down for me from the PSC as they also granted our water company a rate hike, 55%, no less, one that none of us can afford. Many people were also intervenors in that case, wrote letters of protest, etc. and they didn't listen. I think it's bad when they don't even listen to their own lawyers. On the bright side, I've been trying to get 10 years in at my work, I'll have 10 years in next February so I guess this latest tolling helped me a little bit. I wanted 10 years in case I lose my house and we have to move. So I ranted and raved to my poor husband on the way home from work last night and I'm over it and will continue to fight this and will keep rooting for everyone who is bringing these goons down.

To add to Tim...

I just read Bill's latest rant on the PSC and I agree with him 100%. I'll tell you what scares me. Even if the need is not there, I'm afraid they will grant the certificate just because they have always sided with the power companies even when we know they are wrong.

Pam,
I prefer to call my posts "reasoned discourse."

Keryn Newman blogs here at StopPATH WV about energy issues, transmission policy, misguided regulation, our greedy energy companies and their corporate spin.
In 2008, AEP & Allegheny Energy's PATH joint venture used their transmission line routing etch-a-sketch to draw a 765kV line across the street from her house. Oooops! And the rest is history.

    About
    StopPATH Blog

StopPATH Blog began as a forum for information and opinion about the PATH transmission project.  The PATH project was abandoned in 2012, however, this blog was not.

StopPATH Blog continues to bring you energy policy news and opinion from a consumer's point of view.  If it's sometimes snarky and oftentimes irreverent, just remember that the truth isn't pretty.  People come here because they want the truth, instead of the usual dreadful lies this industry continues to tell itself.  If you keep reading, I'll keep writing.
