Frederick County Asks Potomac Edison to Donate Maryland PATH Substation Site

WFMD reports:
Frederick County Commissioner Billy Shreve is asking Potomac Edison to donate some land for a park; specifically, the 150-acre Browning Farm, where the utility was planning to build a substation for the Potomac Appalachian Transmission Highline.

He called it a win-win for First Energy and county citizens.
Frederick County citizens commenting on the article agree.  Potomac Edison has a lot of public image issues in Maryland right now stemming from the Maryland PSC's investigation of its billing and meter reading practices.

This is a fabulous idea and how great that Frederick County would jump at the chance in light of the project's demise. It's a great way for Potomac Edison and Frederick County to work together for the community! A park or demonstration farm would be a great asset to the community!

What a wonderful idea! It might change my distrust for big corporations like Potomac Edison and wipe away the terror of memories fighting for my home. What a generous donation that would be and beautiful landmark.

Mary's right, it may help right prior wrongs. Who wouldn't enjoy an unspoiled expanse of farm land propping up their property values after years of decline because the P.A.T.H. plan.

This is an opportunity for First Energy and Potomac Edison to build cooperation, respect, and recognition with ratepayers and the community, compared to past opposition, complaints, and dissatisfaction. Kudos to First Energy and Potomac Edison IF they recognize the wide-reaching value and agree to donate the farm land to Frederick County for public benefit, with commensurate benefit to utility reputation.
