Hahaha. Lots of gems in the news article.

FE's mouthpiece says of the mayor's letter "It almost doesn't justify a response". Why start now? FE never responded to anything else the city asked them to do.

"Lansky's biggest criticism, though, has nothing to do with the storm. It's FirstEnergy's neglect of utility poles, trees and street lights." Here in WV, FE claims that it doesn't maintain their equipment because of the rural terrain. If they don't do the work right in Maple Heights, what's their excuse?

The reporter should have done a little more homework. He comes out with this brilliant line - "Fixing street lights shouldn't be complicated compared to, say, running a nuclear power plant." If he knew anything about FirstEnergy's history, he would know that FirstEnergy can't run "a nuclear power plant." FirstEnergy owned Three Mile Island when it almost went to China and currently owns the crippled Davis Besse plant.

If the mayor was more articulate with his insults, would it have made the news? No.

Oh, I dunno, Keryn - I could have ghostwritten an absolutely scathing letter for the mayor, and it would have been reported on because it's the MAYOR, fergawdsakes.

Maybe I should contact his office and offer my services ...

Oh please do. I could write a blog post in 5 minutes with better insults.

It was the insults and their juvenile flavor that made news. For some silly reason, people expect that the title "Mayor" comes with an education when that is not necessarily the case.

Actually I think FE man missed an opportunity.

The night lights don't work in Maryland Heights? I would guess FE would say this is proof more transmission is needed.

A blackout occurs with the root cause being lack of tree trimming and the industry says this is proof more transmission is needed.

So why not use blown nightlights as an excuse?

Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Scott? Is that your REAL name? I don't like it. I think you should change it. You pretending your name is Scott causes a need for additional transmission lines.
