Frederick News Post article about the upcoming hearing. Seems like nobody can resist taking jabs at Cannon's inane word choice in the request for rehearing. Eerie! Bring your ghost meter and EMF detector, we're going on a paranormal adventure Thursday night! Ooooh! Scary! :-)
The Frederick County (MD) Board of Zoning Appeals Rehearing on PATH's application for a special exception for their gigantic substation in Mt. Airy has been scheduled for this Thursday, December 16, at 7:00 p.m. at Winchester Hall in Frederick. No public comment will be taken, however everyone is encouraged to attend and show their opposition to PATH's whiny request for rehearing.

OK, let me get this right on their position. Commissioner Sepe is corrupted because she is consistent with her opinions and her knowledge in Frederick is backed up by directly relevant experience elsewhere... As to Clapp, he has access to recordings of proceedings thanks to the tech-forward nature of Frederick County. No proof he did not hear every word. In fact, it would be to PATH's advantage if he heard the recordings instead -- since the running commentary and cheering from the audience is not audible on replay... and the faces of his constituents would not be in HIS face. If PATH really had a statute or regulation that supports their unstated position that Clapp's absence breaks quorum, they would have presented it. SHOW ME THE GOODS PATH! Their motion is a sadly pro-forma legally and intellectually PATH-etic piece of writing. AND they forgot one little issue. The single vote they had, was from an energy lobbyist. Ms. Lara-la-la has considerable income from lobbying energy interests at all levels. (A bit like another Frederick lobbyist favored by Allegheny). So. Does anyone think PATH reeeeeeely wants to bring up the topic of disqualifying any one for "good cause" and risk some itty bitty ethical quicksand? Methinks it should all be left alone. Appeals courts grant maximum discretion to local administrative bodies. By the way, does PATH really want to tell any one in Frederick County that its important to show up anywhere when PATH in all its "outreach" glory, blew off the FC Planning Commission discussion of the PATH line? Dear PATH, whatever you say on record is fair game for all proceedings... ya know, that sworn testimony stuff? How awful it must be to be mixed up in so many cases at once! OUCHIES (and sleepless nights pouring over testimony)

About the Author Keryn Newman blogs here at StopPATH WV about energy issues, transmission policy, misguided regulation, our greedy energy companies and their corporate spin.
In 2008, AEP & Allegheny Energy's PATH joint venture used their transmission line routing etch-a-sketch to draw a 765kV line across the street from her house. Oooops! And the rest is history. About
